The Suffering of the Lamb
This work takes a new approach to exploring this all-important event. Using ancient Roman and Greek original sources along with archaeological artifacts and detailed illustrations, Kenny Vernor re-examines the torture Jesus suffered at the hands of the Romans. He elaborates on details lacking from the Bible but not contradictory to it, and provides a powerful narrative that sheds new light on Christ’s crucifixion.
But there’s more to the story than just the facts of the event. Why did God allow His Son to experience such excruciating torture? Doug Raymer addresses this complex issue elegantly and thoroughly. Kenny details the technical “how” of the suffering of Jesus; Doug covers the “why.”
You will be impressed by the fresh evidence and new ideas both writers use to illuminate the most important event in human history.

Meet the Authors
Kenneth Vernor
Kenneth K. Vernor has served as President of Vernor Material & Equipment Company since 1994, continuing a family legacy established by his father, Kelso Vernor, in 1958. Under his leadership as CEO for over three decades, the company has grown into a respected regional leader, while maintaining its commitment to integrity, service, and community.
Throughout his career, Mr. Vernor has been widely recognized for both his business leadership and civic contributions. His honors include induction as a Junior Achievement Hall of Fame Laureate, Brazosport Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year, Community Foundation Philanthropist of the Year, and the Brazosport Rotary Good Samaritan Award, among others.
In addition to his business accomplishments, Mr. Vernor has played a unique role in historically significant archaeological work. In 2001, a remarkable discovery of mammoth remains was made at his operational sand quarry, leading to a formal excavation conducted by Dr. Rob Bonnichsen of Texas A&M University. Later, in 2014, he participated in a Confederate archaeological excavation in Kentucky alongside noted archaeologist William Meacham of Hong Kong, further reflecting his deep personal commitment to preserving and understanding history.
A fifth-generation Texan, Mr. Vernor remains deeply rooted in the heritage of his state. He is married to Dr. Natalia Vernor, and together they have two children, Stonewall and Alexandra. He is active in his church and is especially passionate about the study of history—including the American Civil War, the Holocaust, and the crucifixion—as well as scuba diving.
